Yesterday on the way back from Night Bazaar area we stopped for a coffee in a place called Mo Rooms Bar and Restaurant.

Design of the Mo’s Bar is simply amazing. Place is very large with tables on the ground and first floor. Some tables are perfectly hidden for those looking for some privacy. Ground floor is full of plants and offers very relaxing atmosphere. Cold grey unpainted walls on the first floor are mixed perfectly with warm wooden furnishing, red sofa, dark violet flower, shelves with old books and DVDs and modern art. Roberto compared it to one of the underground coffee places he visited in Berlin.

We found a lovely table on the “private” balcony overlooking the street. Thanks to WiFi (speed test showed 2.60Mb/s) we were able to catch up on some reading.

Later we discovered that at the back of the restaurant there is a small boutique hotel – Mo Rooms.

Menu offers a great choice but prices of some dishes are twice or even three times of what you would pay in regular Thai restaurant. For example typical Thai dish – Pad Thai costs 120THB (2.67EUR) where you can easily find it for 40THB-60THB. Because we have eaten substantial lunch in Iraqi restaurant earlier on we have just ordered coffees and a snack.

My hot cappuccino (60THB; 1.33EUR) with added cinnamon was very good. Roberto’s iced cappuccino (70THB; 1.55EUR) was a little too sweet for our taste. We also ordered cashew nuts (80THB; 1.78EUR). They were super delicious. We both would definitely come here again. It’s a perfect spot if you are walking from Night Bazaar towards Thapae Gate and need to relax between markets.

Despite higher prices we also would love to try some of the dishes from the menu.

Following appeared to us:

  • Classic Ceasar Salad – 100THB (2.23EUR)
  • Spaghetti with white wine mushroom cream sauce – 150THB (3.33EUR)
  • Stir fried chicken with cashew nuts – 100THB  (2.23EUR)
  • Vegetarian clear soup – 80THB (1.78EUR)

The other great thing about Mo Rooms is a wide offer of international cocktails (99THB or 160THB) making it a perfect spot for girls nite out with Cosmo!

The music they were playing was a selection of Christmas songs sung by tenor or choir with small orchestra. I do not know if they added some reverb to the songs or if the speakers were cheap but there was some kind of magic in it!
