I was very fascinated by the Tirtha Empul from the moment I saw first pictures of this place. I thought – this is a magical place without knowing a bit about it.

Our friend Wayan Plus told us that the best time to visit Tirtha Empul is during the full moon. Temple is then visited by people who came here from all over the Bali “seeking protective blessings and deliverance from illness”. People queue in freezing cold water along with their families to take a bath in the holly water.

During the special day people can wait in the queue for their turn up to 2 hours. Water is so cold that many people are shaking.

Not only Balinese people take the bath in Holly water. From time to time you can see tourists who want are tempted by the prosperity and good heath promises which the bath offers. Pictured below is our friend Kasia who we met in Nusa Dua, Bali and then in Ubud.
